Viper characteristics of deadly snakes can be predicted from local climate

According to an April 10 journal journal of the Indian Academy of Sciences, the local climate can be used to predict the venomous characteristics of the deadly snakes that are prevalent in India, which is widely ubiquitous in India, helping clinicians provide targeted therapy for snakebite victims.
Russell’s Viper (Daboia Russelii) It is found throughout the Indian subcontinent that 40% of snake bite-related deaths are caused every year in India. Its venom is extremely variable, and snake bites can cause different symptoms in different parts of India. The venomous effect of snake venom is caused by the concentration of different enzymes, which may be affected by many factors, including prey availability and climate. However, it is not clear why the changes in Russell Venom are changed.
To investigate, the researchers analyzed venom samples from 115 snakes collected from 34 sites in India. They tested the activity of toxins, including enzymes that break down proteins, phospholipids, and amino acids. Next, they used historical climate data to understand the relationship between venom composition and the local climate in which snakes were captured. They found that temperature and rainfall partially explain regional changes in snake venom composition. Protease activity showed the closest relationship to climate variables, while Animo oxidase activity was not affected by climate. Snakes in dry areas of India tend to have higher protease activity. The researchers used this data to create a map of the expected venom type of Russell within the venom range of venom in India, which can be used to predict the clinical symptoms of snake bites in different regions.
The venom map developed in the study could help clinicians choose the most appropriate treatment for snakebites, or develop targeted therapies such as toxin-specific antibodies, the authors said.
Author Kartik Sunagar added: “Russell’s venom is arguably the most important clinically important snake species in the world. It kills and is accompanied by more people than any other snake species. As a result, it is important to reveal precisely the composition, activity, activity and efficacy of the venom of Russell’s venom, the effects on biological drugs and the Shape of Shap appr tab apect of Is tab apect of shap apect of shap apect of shap apect of shap apect of shap apect of our study.
