The landing page view no longer requires pixels

Do not login page view require pixels? How is that possible?

Let’s break it down…

New news

You may see this message when using performance targets to maximize the number of link clicks:

Maximizing the landing page view now works without installing pixels on your website.

Let’s think about it. Login page view “When a person clicks on your ad link and then successfully loads the ad’s destination URL”. Well, it’s usually possible to do this with pixels.

So, how does the meta do this without this data?

theory

Judging from the documentation in Meta’s login page view, this might be a clue:

“In some cases, because partial or lost data cannot count events directly, statistical modeling can be used…”

Login page view modeling

Obviously, the situation where the pixels are not loaded on the website would be an example of “partial or missing data”. Therefore, modeling is needed.

What would that look like? I have a theory, although it can be oversimplified.

Meta knows when to click the outbound link to an external website. They may focus on the time they spend before returning to the meta application. Returning immediately will not be a landing page view. Everything else could be.

Of course, loading the landing page doesn’t require much, so the percentage of the registration page view should be high with the outbound clicks. However, the meta cannot just blindly assume a certain proportion of outbound click login page views.

Meta can be organized using information about users, websites, placements, etc. For example, they might load the page based on how long it usually takes for a user’s connection and start from here.

Does it matter?

While this offers an opportunity for advertisers who can’t add pixels to their website (Amazon is the obvious example), I stop calling it a big deal. Whether you are optimizing for link clicks or login page views, there are similar traffic quality issues.
