Studies have found that the prejudice requirements of factual inspections are unveiled: American conservative media are simply not trustworthy, research found

With the exacerbation of media prejudice after the presidential election of the United States, new research shows that the low trust rating of conservative news media reflects their practical practice, rather than the systemic prejudice of factors.

The comprehensive analysis of the complex science hubs evaluated more than 11,000 news sources of nine countries. No NewsGuard was found to be the leading media reliability rating service, and discriminated against conservative media in its selection process or rating.

“News guards seem to be unlikely to have inherent prejudice for conservative sources in terms of choosing and giving lower scores. Instead, the American media system is full of right -wing sources, and these resources often do not follow professional social practice.

The research was published in the Magazine of the Quantitative Description Magazine: Digital Media, and studied the rating of news guards in the United States, Britain, Italy, Canada, France, Germany, Austria, Australia and New Zealand.

These discoveries happened at a critical moment, because the Trump administration and extreme right -wing Republicans of the Congress have always targeted researchers with wrong information, and accused the news guard for conservative news websites.

The study shows that compared with other countries, US news sources have always obtained lower trustworthy scores, especially in the right media. However, researchers discovered that this reflects objective standards, not ideological bias.

“Small (super) party sources often lack editors and transparency measures. Since these are key standards for newsguard, judging by the NewsGuard standard will lead to objectively reducing the overall credibility.” Lühring explained.

Researchers manually verified the newsguard in the United States, Britain and Germany. “We manually checked the sources of the United States, Britain and Germany, and found that there were almost no news websites in the database, but the traffic was very large. The location it missed was not to systematically bias any political ideology.” Lu Lin pointed out.

Jana Lasser, a professor and research person at the University of Glas, emphasized how these discoveries are based on previous research. Results were consistent with a 2023 research published in PNAS Nexus. The study found that the rating of NewsGuard was always matched with the rating of other factual inspection organizations.

While verifying the overall reliability of NewsGuard, the researchers did determine the potential limitations of using the database. They warned not to simplify the credibility label of binary, which may affect the effectiveness of some error information research.

Lasser said: “We found that the use of binary ‘” not worthy of trusted “‘ vs.” Not Trusted “classification can easily change over time, which may lead to the difference in measurement rates that are not worthy of trust.” The team recommends using the newsguard more subtle continuous points scoring system.

Due to the concerns of error information, the public discourse continues to shape the public’s words, especially in the election season, this research provides an important background for how to evaluate the reliability of the media. The research results show that increasing the credibility rating of conservative channels may need to solve the basic problems in editing practice, rather than adjusting the rating system itself.
