Creative testing features of meta-advertising
There is a new way to test your advertising creativity.
I hope this may be an important addition to it that will replace the creative testing strategies of many advertisers. Not everyone has it, but here’s what you need to know…
How it works
If anything, you’ll find a new Creative Test section at the bottom of the ad creation details.
The following is the definition of meta:
Up to 5 different versions of creative versions are available in testing to provide new test ads.
This seems to be poorly worded. As far as I know, you can generate up to five copies of the original ads and all will be included in the test. Therefore, the test itself should actually involve up to six ads.
To make things more confusing, I’ve seen this change that allows you to test up to 10 ads (or 11 ads?).
When you click Set Test, you will ask to select the number of ads to test, the budget section to be dedicated to the test, the number of days you want to test, and the metrics to compare performance.
Meta will automatically generate a copy of AD and you need to edit them. Obviously, you’d expect these copies to be significantly different to make the test workable.
After testing
After the test is completed, you will see the results in the Experiment section. Meta did not say if this is a real A/B test that prevents overlap, but I think it will be because it’s about experimentation.
After the test is over, your ad delivery will return to normal. There is no guarantee that Meta will like to perform the best ads or ads during testing, but you have this information in your back pocket.
Replace old test
I’m a fan of this new feature. This may be a superior option to run a separate test ad set for individual ads, which is what many advertisers do. Thanks to this combined structure, it also does not harm the overall performance.
Have you tried this new creative testing feature?
