Will you become the boss of your own AI workforce?

Forget what we know about the job – in the future, we all have our own AI teammates.
At least, this is the world Microsoft envisions in its latest work trend index report.
According to Microsoft, we are at the forefront of a new era where “border companies” (the cutting-edge companies adopted by AI) will fundamentally change the work environment.
exist Report? Humans will increasingly serve as managers and creative directors of AI agent teams that can independently perform various business tasks.
First, every employee gets an AI assistant to help with daily productivity. Next, AI “colleagues” join the project team and play professional roles such as research, analysis or content creation.
Finally, humans regained their pure management roles, setting advanced goals and strategies, while AI agents handled most of the execution.
Artificial intelligence has begun to work this way. Openai’s new “O” series models (recently O3 and O4-Mini) can independently decompose complex queries, collect information, generate content and put it all into coherent outputs – without step-by-step instructions.
Now imagine every business function from marketing to product development to customer service, boosted in this form of AI.
But to be clear, this is not about replacing humans with robots—at least not for a while.
Instead, it is to leverage AI to focus on advanced skills such as creativity, strategy and relationship building. In Microsoft’s view, AI will take over “Drudge Works” to free us up to do more meaningful and influential things.
Of course, it is not easy to make this future a reality. Companies will need to experiment to find the right balance between human and machine contributions.
And there are a lot of jobs that are unemployed. When the company is part of the robot, who will pay taxes?
