Openai has made a major update to Chatgpt’s memory feature, which allows AI to remember everything From your past conversations.
New features announced by OpenAI on X and CEO Sam Altman announced on X enables chatbots to automatically reference all your previous interactions to provide more personalized responses without you having to repeat the message.

Previously, Chatgpt’s memory had to be manually adjusted to get the specific information you want to remember. The update extends this feature in two key ways:
- Saved memories: Details that you explicitly ask changpt to remember
- Chat History: Insights AI automatically collects from all conversations in your past
This means that Chatgpt can now recall your preferences, interests, recurring themes, and even style choices without prompting.
For example, if you mentioned rock music fans, or prefer short, bullet answers in previous chats, should remember.
“The new conversations are naturally built on what you already know about you, making the interaction feel smoother and tailored to you,” Openai said in the announcement.
Privacy controls are still available
Not surprisingly, not everyone wants Chatgpt to know or remember more about them.
With a comprehensive record of Chatgpt ho, every conversation you have with will inevitably contain sensitive information on you, the company you work for, etc., so you maintain a lot of trust in OpenAi’s capabilities (and willingness) to keep that information under lock and key.
