Report – Air quality is important

Washington, March 5, 2025 – The American Clean Energy Association (ACP) released today Clean Energy Snapshots in 2024a preview of the upcoming annual market report for comprehensive clean capacity, which shows the major years of clean energy in 2024. ACP’s data showcases an industry entering a new chapter with incredible momentum.

The clean energy industry broke the record in 2024, deploying an unprecedented 49 GW, a 33% increase from the previous 37 GW record. This dramatic acceleration reflects the extraordinary momentum of the industry: it took more than 40 years to build 200 GW for over 40 years, which makes the speeds above 40 years, which is 30 gw and 100 GW of 100 GW (an additional 100 GW). With the total clean energy capacity reaching 313 GW connected to the U.S. grid, these devices are providing reliable power for millions of U.S. homes and businesses across the country.

“The only way to meet soaring energy demand is to embrace all U.S. energy. The main performance of the clean energy sector in 2024 shows the unique role of clean energy in bringing electricity online to support increased manufacturing and data centers. Reliable energy depends on reliable policies.” ACP CEO Jason Grumet says. “Our country’s economic growth and digital advantages require an active pursuit of all the energy strategies mentioned above.”

Key Highlights:

  • New capacity: 93% of the new energy capacity online in 2024 is clean energy, surpassing the average of 75% in the previous five years.
  • Utilities-scale solar energy: More than 33 GW of solar power were deployed in 2024.
  • Utility-scale energy storage: More than 11 GW of energy storage will be deployed in 2024.
  • Strong wind duct: The total wind duct is 40 GW, including offshore and onshore winds, and 20 GW are under construction.
  • Manufacturing Growth: 46 major U.S. component manufacturing projects are online in 2024 on the utility-scale wind, solar and storage supply chain.
  • Red Country Leader: The red states’ clean energy capacity grew the fastest in 2024, with Mississippi, Louisiana and Kentucky operating capacity growing by more than 200% year-on-year.
