Columbia Climate School is pleased to announce the launch of a new dual degree program with the FU Foundation School of Engineering and Applied Sciences, which will begin in September 2025. Students taking this dual degree program will receive a Master of Climate Science and a Master of Science in Carbon Management after successful completion of the study.
“Carbon dioxide emissions and access to safe and adequate energy remains the two biggest challenges facing our world,” said Alexis Abramson, dean of the Climate School. “Climate School is delighted to be with Colombia Engineering collaborates to provide the program, which combines climate science, social impact and carbon management expertise to prepare students to develop and implement low-carbon strategies across sectors and industries.”
Carbon management technologies play an important and complementary role in addressing climate change and provide a range of options to support sustainable energy transitions, including carbon capture, removal and reuse to meet net zero emissions. The dual program will enable students to provide multifaceted solutions for carbon inflows and outflows, aligning global energy demand with climate impacts.

Dual degree students will provide a total of 63 credits for MS in the climate of MS, earn 33 credits for MS in the two semesters of MS in the climate of MS, and therefore 30 credits for MS in the two semesters of MS in the climate of MS, and therefore, Both degrees have less than two degrees compared to the time pursued alone.
In the MS Climate Program, students will complete immersive climate courses on climate, quantitative approaches, mitigation pathways, adaptation strategies and policies, judicial frameworks and social impacts. In the MS of the Carbon Management Program, students gain technical depth through the core courses of the core courses. The dual program jointly trains students to create and implement solutions to carbon problems as a key approach to addressing the climate crisis. In addition to top-level courses and access from teachers, students will have plenty of opportunities to apply knowledge outside the classroom in both programs to help prepare them for a dynamic career.

Graduates of the program can engage in a wide variety of influential careers from industry, government and nonprofit sectors, such as climate policy analysts, carbon market experts, climate risk managers, renewable energy consultants and more.
Interested candidates must apply for Columbia Climate School and Columbia Project separately. Admission decisions for each school are made independently based on the school’s selection criteria only. Students pay tuition and fees and grant financial aid in the school where they reside in a given year.
Students can start a dual program at any school. The recommended pathway for international students is to start with climate schools, which is due to the qualification of F-1 course practical training (CPT) for the summer semester.
