How to use value rule failure
In this video, I share an example of a value rule failure.
If you are not familiar with this feature, the value rules allow you to adjust bids on certain variables such as age, gender, location, mobile operating system, and where you are now.
There is a new reporting option in Ad Manager that provides additional insights.
Fault
At the bottom of the failure menu, is a checkbox worthy of rules to help see how and when the rules are applied. This can only be used for ads and ad sets.
After checking, META will generate separate rows when the value rule is not applied.
In the video, I share an example where I use the value rule to adjust my bid based on age group. I created value rules for two groups: people 65+ and 55 to 64.
The rows for this decomposition are generated for “unclassified” and used rules. In my example, the unclassified row means that this is the value rule that does not affect bids for people under 55.
The next two lines have long IDs representing the applied rules. I’m not sure if this was intentional, but it’s hard to read. If you hover them over them, you can see in particular what the rules it is.
In my case, this breakdown suggests that reducing bids by 50% obviously does affect budget allocation for those over 65 years old.
